Perfectly imperfect spaces

Today, I'm loving these raw and imperfect spaces and pieces, miles away from all white and perfectly styled or arranged pictures we're constantly bombarded with - don't get me wrong, I love an all pretty organized space as well, but somehow, these interiors with their raw and not so perfect elements have more soul, more life to them. And look at this all-white kitchen in picture 2 where the raw wall was kept, as a "clin d'oeil" to the space's past life? Doesn't this kitchen have more personality all of the sudden?

Kids indoor playhouses

How cool are these kids indoor playhouses? Oh, how I wish I had had one when I was of age, or had the idea {and the space} of doing one for my girls when they were younger! We used to have a basic wooden outdoor playhouse in our yard in France that I had customized, updated, decorated and painted for the girls and they played there for endless hours! But indoors, as in all year round, everyday magical story telling and making, and play date bonding? That's genius!

Inspiring kitchens

Sometimes, you come across a kitchen that makes you want to cook all day. As I was doing some research for a client about inspiring kitchens for a remodeling project, I saved these kitchens in my favorite folder. I'm falling for the grey one, with its rescued wooden window shutters repurposed in kitchen cabinet doors, its concrete island and Tolix stools - but let's be real, I'd take any of these gorgeous kitchens. How 'bout you? Which one of these kitchens steals your heart?

A Greenwich Village luminous loft

This is the home of James Jebbia, founder and head of the Supreme retail brand. He shares this Greenwich Village, New York, loft with wife Bianca and their two children, Miles and Nina. Minimalist, punctuated by a few iconic design pieces, this massive open space loft has incredible light, thanks to the great architectural features [industrial windows] that have been kept in the remodeling. What a lovely space!

Quel magnifique espace!

Today I'm loving

Oh, how I love this bathroom. First, the "Pear Cut" bathtub, designed by iconic designer Patricia Urquiola for Agape. Clean, simple, and very feminine lines. Then, the flooring and the tiles. Divine. And the walls and arch. Ah, this is a dreamy bathroom.

Oh, j'aime cette salle de bain. Beaucoup. Sublime. Et ces murs bruts avec cette arche. Ah, c'est une salle de bain de rêve!

More tile love

I love these modern or remodeled interiors that use old tiles or vintage looking tiles. What a great way to add character to a space, don't you think? Which one is your favorite? I think I like them all. Special crush for the kitchen backsplash tiling in black and white "quilting" effect.

Today I'm loving

Today I'm loving this space spotted on the latest Dwell magazine. Furnished with vintage pieces, this space has a clear rustic flare, while still being very modern. I am in love with the floors, perfectly imperfect. A client of mine used uneven oak flooring in her interior and the result was truly amazing. By switching the width of the oak planks - or their color like here - you can obtain a flooring with a lot more character. This is simply gorgeous.

Hooray it's cold outside! {Fireplace inspiration}

The chill is back over here, and it's colder than ever. I am not a cold weather gal, but these fireplaces make me wanna say "Hooray, it's cold outside!"

Wallpaper Love

I've greatly changed my mind about wallpapers. I used to think they were old looking, boring and outdated, but thanks to some very creative designers, these beauties make me want to put wallpaper back in my home. Here is a round up of my favorite...

There isn't much I don't absolutely love in this pic : first off, the colored-step stairs, obviously. What a fabulous idea, a perfect "think outside the box" example, just as I like them... And then, against these vibrant pops of color, the old brick exposed walls that have been kept untouched as if they were telling the story of the building. Perfect. And the moodboard that seems to follow the staircase. All black and white. This is not a staircase, this is an ode to beauty.

Today, I'm loving...

Woah, love, love, love this kitchen... Can you imagine yourself cooking with such a view to the garden? That's what I miss the most in my current kitchen... a view... What is striking to me is that the kitchen is very modern, very structured, but it's all balanced by the green scenery of the outdoors. WoAh!

Wouah, quelle cuisine... WOuAh!

A stylish and fully functional 55M² flat

A comfortable living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area and even an office corner... This 55 square meter [590 sq. ft] Italian flat appears a lot bigger than it actually is, thanks to a brilliantly thought design, customized storage solutions, and use of color and accessories to delimitate the areas. J'aime!

J'aime!

Trend Alert : Concrete

Have you noticed how the concrete trend is coming back big time in kitchens [and baths, and stairs]? From countertops to backsplash, sinks, flooring to wallpapering effects [where you apply concrete paint effect on one section of a wall in a square or rectangle shape to add texture to a plain white wall], concrete is taking over the interior design scene. Concrete gives a space its strength, raw, mineral and organic effect while being very soft to the touch. I am loving this trend, don't you?

A renovated loft in Prato, Tuscany

I've had these amazing loft pictures on file for a while but somehow never shared them on the blog. I can't find any good reason not to, because this loft epitomizes the style I like, so I figured I needed to share these shots with you.
This loft from B-Arch Architettura firm, whom I already presented the work through this post, is another brilliant work from Sabrina Bignani and Alessandro Capellaro architect duo.  They transformed the attic of an 18th century building in Prato, Italy, into a spacious and luminous loft.
I love the mix of vintage pieces against the all white canvas [wall, ceiling, beams, window frames, kitchen elements and furniture] and the light oak wide wood floors. As a result, the loft appears very modern yet full of vintage references, giving it a character without looking like a flea market gathering spot. Another great idea is the use of a vintage map as a headboard. Very clever. There isn't much I don't like about this loft. You?
