Guest Post | Atelier Rue Verte : Down Town Hotel

Knock, knock, anybody here? Si, are you here? Nope… it looks like nobody's here… Wouhou! Brilliant! French By Design is a magnificent blog, that I adore, that I admire with a lot and followed by so many readers … So I am gladly taking over the blog and take you to a beautiful visit under the sun of Mexico. Hush !!!! Oh, by the way, I am Valérie, a French girl, passionate about decoration, and I curate the Atelier rue verte blog.

Mexico is a country that I particularly appreciate and it is with great pleasure that I present you this hotel located in a UNESCO world heritage classified district.
Down Town Hotel is located in a magnificent pedestrian paved street and when you push the enormous wooden doors we are subjugated by the wonderfully preserved colonial style. The decoration of the hotel allies brilliantly the colonial style, the local products and a more uncluttered, more contemporary industrial style. This mix makes the Down Town hotel a truly unique place.
The hotel's 17 rooms are sober but smart. Street facing rooms have a balcony to admire the point of view on this beautiful district. On the other side, rooms give onto a patio. The roof hosts an immense terrace where you can take advantage of the sun, the swimming pool and the outside bar.

Thank you Si for this beautiful moment of sharing. I am still very moved. Hugs!
Good day everyone!

Valérie

Toc-toc … Y'a t-il quelqu’un sur ce blog? … Siham, tu es là …. ?

Off to France!

This weekend, I am packing for... France! Getting ready to fly to Aix en Provence for a few days to visit my loved ones [and work a bit too] and then jump in the high speed TGV train to Paris for a couple of days. There, I'll meet some on my favorite blogging buddies, catching up on lots of things, pajama partying, design shop hopping, and some other fun action. So excited about that! You can follow my whereabouts on Instagram as I may not have access to a full computer at all times.
The blog will still be active as I prepared some yummy posts in advance for you, but I may not be able to reply to your comments or contact notes until I get back. Have a fabulous weekend my dear, and see you again very soon! Xo, Si-

Si-

I'm back!

Hello! Aloha! I am back, all relaxed, tanned {and skin peeled too in some areas} but above all filled with amazing memories. Hawaii is truly a paradise spot, and its people so welcoming, proud and respectful of their land. I was amazed at how much Hawaiians are tuned with their history and united in their love for mother nature. A truly amazing and life changing trip. Mahalo {thank you} Hawaii for welcoming us like you did. We'll be back. Bless you.

A beach house in South Africa

Oh, yum. Vraiment beaucoup, yum... This beach house located in South Africa has all the components of the dreamy summer house: the exterior cladding and shutters made out of eucalyptus lattes, the ocean view and outdoors spaces or the simply furnished indoor space. I think my heart just skipped beat. For real.

Dar Kawa

Well, it's that time of the year... when the excitement of winter with its cosy wool sweaters and nice leather boots is all gone, your skin is dry, your toes are bluish because they haven't seen the sunlight for so long... I long for spring so bad... Don't you? To top it off, I keep coming across pictures of sunny paradisiac spots. Like this one spotted on the latest edition of Cote Sud : Dar Kawa in Marrakech, Morocco. Arhh... take me there... What's not to love about this place. Really.
Redesigned by Valerie Barkowski with the help of architect Quentin Wilbaux, Dar Kawa's style is all about simplicity and authenticity - and extra bonus, it's located in Morocco, a place I call home... Blissful, truly...

Paris pics

I know, I am late on posting my Paris trip pics, but this French flu bug hit me hard and I am barely recovering from it. So here is a selection of my Parisian moments... The highlights of my trip were a tour of Paris monuments and shop-hopping with my friend Claire in her shinny cherry red Vespa [priceless], a sunny Sunday five-hour-walk with my mom in the French capitale [keyword : sneakers], spending some good time with my dear friend Anne Marie who came to visit from Aix en Provence, Maison et Objets and discovering a couple of awesome shops [I will tell you more about it soon], meeting with two awesome ladies and fellow bloggers, Anna, whom I already knew from a previous trip, and Lau, who is just as fresh and spontaneous as her lovely blog. And of course, meeting with Paris, my all time secret lover...

On my way back from Paris...

So long Paris, au revoir! As always, it breaks my heart to say goodbye to you but as much I am in love with you, I miss my loved ones. They say "home is where your heart is", and I have to agree with that statement more than ever. But I will be back. I will, as you always have that same effect on me. Just like a lover. I love you, Paris. Take care. A bientot. Xo, Si-

Au revoir!

Today is departure day! I am beyond excited, no need to say. And because I can not take you with me [*sigh*], I will try to keep in touch through the FrenchByDesign Facebook page with freshly taken pictures that I upload whenever I get an internet signal. But I also prepared in advance a few blog posts for you - all around the theme of Paris and traveling - so be sure to check back here regularly while I am gone. As you know, I have a thing for old pics, so be prepared for some cool shots of Paris I gathered for you. That way, you'll somehow be traveling with me.
I will miss you, truly. But I'll back soon with lots of pictures to share with you and fully charged with creative interior design ideas. I promise. Bises - one on each cheek, the French way ;-) - , Si-

Hello new week!

Hello there and happy Monday! No need to say that I am super excited about this week because I am packing for Paris. At the same time, the travel bug hit me so I am super busy finishing my long list of to-dos before departure. I won't complain though. Being super busy because Paris is awaiting for me is not such a b****, is it? Wishing you a happy and productive Monday! Xo, Si-

Paris, j'arrive!

In less than a week, I will be in Paris! I can hardly contain my excitement... I will be busy with work, but I won't lie, I will have fun too! Unfortunately, I am not sure I will be internet connected at all times, so I don't plan on posting much while I am there [I will update my Facebook page with freshly taken pictures whenever I find a decent internet signal] but don't expect regular postings. Rest assured I will catch up with you when I'm back [I'll tell you all about my Maison & Objets 2012 exhibition discoveries and product crushes!]. Oh, Paris, I am coming, and I can hardly wait to see you! Xo, Si
